This Privacy Policy describes how The Technical Take, LLC collects information from all end users of TheTechnicalTake.com -- those who access some of our services but do not have accounts ("Visitors"), as well as those who pay a monthly service fee to subscribe to the services ("Members").

The Technical Take, LLC is committed to keeping your personal information secure. This privacy policy demonstrates our firm commitment to your privacy and security. Please read the information below to become familiar with the policies regarding your information and the TheTechnicalTake.com web site.

Registration

In order to access the membership areas of this web site, members are asked to provide certain personal information when they wish to obtain a subscription to TheTechnicalTake.com. We use this information to ensure account security and uniqueness and to contact a user in case a problem occurs. Personal information including name, address, e-mail address, telephone number and billing information (such as a credit card number) are needed at time of registration to verify your identity when subscribing to the service.  The personal information collected from members during the registration process is used to manage each member's account (such as for billing purposes). Under no circumstances is any personal information, including but not limited to name, address, credit card and email address shared or sold to any non-essential outside parties. The release of limited personal information to outside parties is needed to validate against fraud in the case of subscription payments, verify access to the subscriber's section of the web site and allow our credit card processing company to charge the appropriate credit card. The Technical Take, LLC may also disclose information about our users when we believe, in good faith, that the disclosure is required by law.

However, in instances where TheTechnicalTake.com and a partner jointly promote the TheTechnicalTake.com, The Technical Take, LLC may provide the partner certain personal information, such as the name, address, and username of persons who subscribed to the TheTechnicalTake.com as a result of the joint promotion for the sole purpose of allowing us and the partner to assess the results of the promotion. In this instance, the partner may not use personal information for any other purpose.

The Technical Take, LLC may also generate non-identifying and aggregate profiles from personal information members provide during registration (such as the total number, but not the names, of members). As explained in more detail below, we may use this aggregated and non-identifying information to sell advertisements that appear on TheTechnicalTake.com.

Secure Ordering with a Credit Card

Currently, all new subscriptions and renewal orders are placed through an encrypted, secured order server using Secure Socket Layers (SSL) technology. PayPal, the online payment leader processes all credit card orders. While on a secure page, such as the subscription order form or "Update Information" page among others, the lock icon on the bottom of web browsers such as Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer becomes locked, identifying the page as secure.

Site Security

TheTechnicalTake.com has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under our control. While every effort is made to ensure the integrity and security of the network and systems, we cannot guarantee that our security measures will prevent third-party "hackers" from illegally obtaining this information.

Cookies

A cookie is a piece of data stored on the user's computer tied to information about the user.  A cookie is created when a user subscribes to the service. TheTechnicalTake.com uses cookies to store subscribers' user names and passwords so that they do not have to input these items every time they visit our web site. TheTechnicalTake.com uses both session ID cookies and persistent cookies. A session cookie is used to control access to membership areas. For the session ID cookie, once you close your browser, the cookie simply terminates. A persistent cookie is a small text file stored on your hard drive for an extended period of time. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your browser's help file directions. If you choose to disable the receipt of cookies from TheTechnicalTake.com, you may not be able to use certain features of the site.

Like most web hosting services, our web host compiles general log files of user traffic. Records in our log files include internet protocol (IP) addresses, browser types, internet service providers (ISPs), referring pages, exit pages, platform types, and date/time stamps. We use web server log files to administer the site, to provide broad traffic information for site planning purposes, and to ensure that our terms of service agreement is being adhered to. In no way is any personal information shared or stored in regard to these log files.

Third Party Advertising

The ads appearing on TheTechnicalTake.com website are delivered to subscribers and non-members by the web advertising partners. Information about the users' visit to the site, such as number of times they have viewed an ad (but not personal information), is used to serve ads to users on the website. The Technical Take, LLC may derive revenue from advertising. In order to attract and retain advertisers we may use the aggregated, anonymous information that we gather (as well as information from third-party market researchers) to describe our services to partners and to assist our advertisers and sponsors to better understand our audience. We do not disclose personal information about our users to these parties. Please be aware that advertisers or web sites that have links on our site may separately collect personal information about you. The information practices of those parties and web sites linked to TheTechnicalTake.com are not covered by this privacy statement.
